Community Service

Pumpkin Hunt

This event has grown over the years.  This past fall the girls decorated 275 pumpkins and distributed goodie bags with each.  The girls decorate pumpkins in their troop meetings, then the leaders hide them the morning of the hunt.  This event is free to all children in Hooksett under 12, and "hunters" keep the pumpkin as well as receiving a goodie bag.  We are thankful to the Hooksett Kiwanis who was this year's sponsor, and the Hooksett PTA who allowed us to hold our event in conjunction with their "Spooktacular" event.

Gift Wrapping at PTA Fair

Each year the girls pitch in and help the shoppers at the PTA Holiday Fair at Underhill School by wrapping packages for the shoppers free of charge.  It helps everyone get into the holiday spirit!!

Birthday Baskets

The Girl Scout birthday is in March, and we love to share our birthday with others.  With the help of the Hooksett Family Services office, we assemble baskets with many helpful items for various families in the community.  There is a lot of joy for our girls to decide what might be needed and shop for items for these families.

Service by Troops

Each troop also decides to participate in service projects that they feel are important.  This year some of those projects included care packages to the military troops overseas, helping the elderly, children's hospitals, community service, and supporting the local animal shelters.
