So many girls are waiting to join the fun of Girl Scouting,

but without the help of more adults, we just can't grow!

1) "I work full time, so I don't have time to be a leader" -    Perhaps people have demanding jobs and time is very limited for some folks, but we're all busy.  Organizing a troop can be very manageable.  Many of our leaders work full time and find that troop involvement fits well into their schedules.

There must be a couple of hours in the week you would like to spend with your daughter and her friends!  With a little planning with your co-leader, the time you contribute to Girl Scouting will ultimately be very rewarding!

2) "I'm not creative - I'm not sure if I could do this" - Don't worry.... just being a caring person is all you need!  First, there are plenty of resources to help you - Leader Training, the Leader Manual, fellow GS adults in our town to help you get started, and lots of other ideas, some even on the internet.  You always work with a co-leader, so you might be the organized one where they might be the creative one.  Teamwork!!

3) "I'm not sure I can do this by myself" - A troop always has at least two adults.  This is for many reasons:  safety, creativity, diversity.  We encourage troops to meet in public spots rather than in homes, so don't worry about the dinner dishes!

4) "How often are the meetings?" - Each troop decides what is best for them.   Some meet weekly, some every other week, some only once a month.  The meetings are typically 1 hour or 1-1/2 hours, but that is up to each troop as well.

4) "Ok - maybe I can do this - now what?" - You and a friend can do this together, or we will find you a partner.  Then,

Orientation meeting - an overview of the program. (apx. 2 hrs.)

Essentials of Leadership I - understanding the Girl Scout Program (3 hrs.)

Essentials of Leadership II - learning about the specific age level you would be working with (3 hrs.)

(the Orientation is done at the community level, the EOL's are scheduled throughout the Council, sometimes both on one Saturday, sometimes two weekday evenings)

Your registration fee is $ 10.00, just like the girls.  No other financial commitment is needed.
